Beginning in April, the 4-H club Greener Fields has been working on another food drive to benefit the Geauga Hunger Task Force. Dr. Augustine Kellis, of Kellis Eye Center, has agreed to match funds up to $30,000 this year. Last year over $22,000 was donated with Dr. Kellis’s match. He is matching 50 cents a donated item and a dollar per dollar match on check donations. While school was still in session, members of the club spoke to their principals in order to put food drive boxes out in the schools. Already, hundreds of items have been collected and donated and they hope to collect hundreds more. Along with these food boxes, the club has also participated in activities such as a successful food drive at Walmart in Middlefield and want to thank the community and Walmart for their generosity. We also want to thank all other 4-H clubs and businesses that participated. We hope to collect even more in order to give back to the community. If you would like to give, contact Maria or Debbie at Kellis Eye Center,150 Seventh Ave., Suite 100, Chardon (44024), 440-285-2020. Dr. Kellis will present his matching check at the Great Geauga County Fair on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 5:30 p.m. at the Junior Fair Pavilion.
