Volunteers for the Geauga County Pomona Grange Diner are busy getting ready to serve their customers during the Geauga County Fair. From Huntsburg and Ledge Granges, they are cleaning the equipment and building from top to bottom in preparation to serve thousands of great meals to hungry visitors to the Great Geauga County Fair in its 195th year with assistance from the Cardinal Music Boosters. The fair runs through Labor Day week-end, from Aug. 31 through Sept. 4, 2017.
The Diner is inside building #16 located next to the First-Aid Station building #55 and across from the milking parlor. Look for the ATM machine. Breakfast starts at 7 a.m. for early birds with eggs, sausage, bacon and real Geauga County maple syrup for pancakes. Roast beef and meatloaf with all the extras are served for dinner. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and other sandwiches make a great lunch. Stop by all day for dessert of pie, cookies or fry pies. Pomona Grange is a sponsor of the Family-A-Fair program.
The money raised at the Diner will be used in the efforts of the Granges to help our communities. The Grange has been around since 1867, when the National Grange became the first nationwide farm organization. Our motto is “American Values, Hometown Roots”.
National Grange is celebrating its 150th birthday this year. We invite you to stop by the three Grange exhibit booths (Huntsburg, Hambden and Ledge) in the Agricultural Building at the south end of the fairgrounds. The displays show who we are and how we serve the community during the year.
Please stop by the Pomona Diner for good food and information on the Granges in Geauga County and how you can join. Hope to see you again this year!
