Middlefield VFW Post 9678 is growing and recruiting.  Veterans of foreign wars, veterans’ families and community members are welcome to get involved with fundraising vents and invited to attend meetings held the third Monday of each month. The Post is located at 16013 E. High Street in Middlefield.

Veterans in Need fundraisers are scheduled and your involvement and donations are always appreciated.  Food and non-perishable tems are accepted any time at the Post.  Gift cards or monetary donations can be mailed to Middlefield VFW Post 9678, 11374 Clay Street, Huntsburg (44046).

The Middlefield VFW Post 9678 is planning a summer of events, beginning with the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.  The public is invited to participate and community support is appreciated.

Saturday, May 26: Classic Car Show from 2 to 5 p.m. at the VFW Post. Free admission. Meet car enthusiasts and view classic cars. DJ Deb Miller from Perfect Occasions will provide music, and refreshments and food will be available along with a 50/50 raffle and raffle baskets.  

Monday, May 28: Memorial Day parades in Parkman at 9 a.m., Huntsburg at 10:30 a.m. and returning to Middlefield at noon with the Cardinal marching band. Hot dogs and hamburgers available and entertainment by Raymond Marsh and his square-dancing group.

Poppies: Watch for veterans in town over the Memorial Day weekend offering poppies for a donation. Donations go toward community activities that support our Veterans In Need.

Saturday, June 9: Golf Outing at Pleasant Hill Golf Course. Four-person scramble with cash prizes and a meal at the Middlefield VFW Post after the tournament.  Check in at 10 a.m. $50 per person early bird and $65 after May 15.   

Saturday, June 23: Bicycle Ride at 9 a.m.  Bike from the VFW Post to the Maple Leaf Trail.  Registration $20.  T-shirt will be included for the first 25 riders.  

Wednesday, July 4: Fourth of July Spectacular at Blossom Music Center with the Cleveland Orchestra. $40 includes transportation, pavilion seating, tram ride and fireworks.  Pick up at Middlefield VFW Post at 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Bainbridge Giant Eagle. A little walking.  Fireworks at end of show.  

Saturday, July 21:  Trip to Put-In-Bay open to all ages includes motor coach Fun Bus (cash games, bingo, horse racing, 50/50 and Booz raffle basket) and round trip on Miller’s Ferry.  $55 early bird by June 20.  $65 after.  Pick up at VFW Post at 9 a.m. and at West Geauga Plaza at 9:30 a.m. Leave the Island at 7 p.m.   

Fitness 101, Saturdays: FREE for all ages and all fitness levels. Cardio at 8:30 – 9 a.m., Pilates at 9 – 10 a.m.  Personal Trainer who is certified in kickboxing, Pilates, strength training and wellness coaching.
