Destination Geauga held a “Meet and Greet” for their newly-appointed director, Debra Farinacci, on Oct. 18 at the Red Maple Inn. Farinacci comes to the organization with an extensive background in tourism and a genuine invested energy in Geauga County. “The mission of Destination Geauga is to stimulate economic growth of Geauga County while promoting its events and businesses to create year-round tourism,” said Jo Anne Kauffman, board president. “Our goal in the coming year is to invite our neighbors from within the county and attract guests from coast-to-coast and internationally to experience what we have here in Geauga County. From the manufacturing of cabinets, to mattresses to our agriculture community, Geauga has farm markets full to overflowing with fresh-from-the-garden produce and award winning maple syrup and cheeses, just to name a few attractions.
We are the fourth largest Amish community in the country,” she continued, “so while living a simpler lifestyle, the area is brimming with many shops and businesses along the way featuring handcrafted furniture, colorful quilts and local handmade wares. Our restaurants are many and can tempt any appetite, ready to serve you.”
