Rumor has it that on Dec. 8, the Grinch and Max will come into town and attempt to  ruin our Merry Middlefield Christmas. An anonymous source tells us we can catch the thief in action between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Unverified reports claim Grinch and Max will appear at various businesses and steal the gifts that have been donated by you, our community.

The gifts you give are going to be donated to Santa for use at the Hide-A-Way Hollow.

Also, on Dec. 8, children can meet Grinch in his nastiness at the Cardinal High School from noon until 1:30 p.m. where he will sign “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” books for the young visitors, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

Our Grinch will then re-appear at 5 p.m. inside Great Lakes Outdoor Supply, 14855 N. State Street in Middlefield to deliver his award-winning dramatic performance including our local Cindy Lou Who. Everyone is invited to meet Grinch, see his performance, and receive a free photo with Santa, Grinch, Max and Cindy Lou. Dress warmly and bring chairs for fireworks at 7 p.m. Fireworks are courtesy of Great Lakes Outdoor Supply and the Village of Middlefield.

The following toys are ideal, when donating toys to Santa’s Hide-A-Way Hollow: Barbie dolls — Christmas Barbies or Holiday Barbies with no dates.
Remote control cars.
Game boards.
Things that make noise.
Music boxes and musical instruments — things kids can turn on by themselves.
Gift cards are gold to Santa. They can go to the families or Santa can run out and use them to buy a forgotten item or special request.
Teddy bears 16 inches or bigger. All stuffed animals that are plush, cuddly and of a decent size.

If giving sporting goods, bear in mind that these kids often can’t play with them, but Santa can get real footballs, soccer balls and baseballs signed so they become collectibles.
