Fourth graders had a turn to explore in the science lab before winter break. Students were testing three ariables in environmental changes – humidity, temperature and light. They used isopods (pill bugs) that teacher Mrs. Charlotte Torre collected outside her house for study. Students were exploring plant and animal adaptations and their relationships with the environment in an effort to determine if a change in an organism’s environment is helpful or harmful to its survival. The organisms were placed in choice chambers to allow students to observe the pill bugs’ preference for environment when exposed to rapid change.
