Geauga Fresh Farmers’ Market, with all the fresh goodness the market has to offer, will begin its summer season on Saturday, May 11, just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day. In addition to finding the best spring offerings when treating mom to a great breakfast, brunch or dinner, early market guests will receive a free blueberry plant. Market hours are 9 a.m.-noon in the South Russell Town Hall parking lot.
On Opening Day, Hawthorn prings Greenhouse ill welcome market visitors to the 2019 Summer Season with a free blueberry plant. Geauga County Master Gardeners will be on hand to offer advice on how to care for the plant and to answer general questions about plants and gardening.
Future markets will feature special themes, cooking demonstrations, music and other activities. The market is looking for volunteers to help with activities, offer demonstrations and perform. We are seeking nonprofit groups for a community day event later in the season. Please call or email the market manager. The market is still accepting new vendors. Applications are available on the market website. A limited number of spaces are available for food truck operators, as well.
Geauga Fresh Farmers’ Market, which was established in 2002, is among the oldest farmer’s markets in northeast Ohio. The purpose of the market is to provide local farmers with a place to sell their produce and value added products directly to community members and to give the community an opportunity to buy fresh, local food. Among the items available at the market throughout the season are: fruit, vegetables, plants, herbs, meat (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey), eggs, jams, jellies, maple syrup, honey and baked goods.
