The Middlefield Chamber of Commerce held their annual election meeting and steak dinner on Sept. 10 at Swine Creek Park. There were no changes to the Board of Directors.
The Geauga Veteran’s Sport Fest was held on Sept. 14 in the Great Lakes Outdoor Supply parking lot in Middlefield. It was well attended and plans are to hold this as an annual event.
The nomination for this year’s Bright Star is Chamber Vice President Randy Kaser, owner of Acquire Fire Protection in Middlefield. The NOACC awards banquet will be held at LaCentre Conference Facility on Oct. 22 in Westlake where he and other Northeastern Ohio Bright Stars will receive their awards.
The State of the Village of Middlefield will be presented by Mayor Garlich on Oct. 8 beginning at noon at Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. Cost to attend the meeting is $20 and a family style lunch will be served. Registrations are now being accepted.
Then on Nov. 12 doors open at 11:45 a.m. at the Middlefield VFW Post when Commander Jeff Gardner will speak about their work with the Veterans-In-Need program and special guest Jim Warren from the Burton American Legion will talk about the Honor Flight program. Canned food, gift cards, and non-perishable items will be collected. Reservations are required.
The last meeting of 2019 will be held on Dec. 10 at noon at Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen with the annual Cardinal Cardinaires Christmas Concert. Cost to attend the meeting is $20 and a family style lunch will be served. Registration is required. Seats go fast!
Dec. 14 brings Santa and our Grinch to town for the Merry Middlefield event, free to the public. Chamber members will display the official toy donation signs in their businesses throughout Middlefield where unwrapped toys will be collected. Activities will take place during the day in the Cardinal High School multi-purpose room with an early visit from Grinch, a pancake breakfast and craft show beginning at 8 a.m., and Grinch book signing from noon to 1:30 p.m. Grinch performance at 6 p.m. at Great Lakes Outdoor Supply with a visit from Santa.
The Chamber will collect canned goods, gift cards, and non-perishable items at each event. Donations can also be made to the Veterans-In-Need program directly through the Middlefield VFW Post.
