On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Middlefield VFW Post #9678 will host the Middlefield Chamber of Commerce meeting at the VFW Hall, 16013 E. High St., in Middlefield starting at noon.
Veteran Jim Warren will share his experiences as an Honor Flight participant after his name was submitted by the Burton American Legion. Warren was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force based out of Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA. During his service he was a surgical technician and a member of a helicopter rescue team during the Korean War. Warren was also a member of the Strategic Air Command Honor Guard and a member of the competition rifle team.
The mission of Honor Flight Cleveland is to fly veterans to Washington, D.C. for free to see their memorials. The members of the Honor Flight Network are all volunteers. All expenses are covered by donations. Each veteran is escorted by a volunteer Guardian.
The following message is printed on the Honor Flight Cleveland brochure: “If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in English, thank a veteran.”
