Day of the Dead
Some of our CHS scholars ventured to Cleveland on Nov. 2 to experience the Day of the Dead Festival being held in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood. While there with instructor Senora Ipce Flores, students were able to participate in craft workshops, visit vendors, sample pan de muerto (the traditional Day of the Dead bread), and see the Skulls and Skeletons parade. There was also live music and performances. Scholars have been learning about this tradition that is celebrated in Mexico and Latin America in class and we’re told enjoyed seeing the culture in person.
