Through the generous support of our community, Geauga Faith Rescue Mission (GFRM) has the funds in place to provide emergency shelter services. Working with a hotel and other housing options, they are able to provide a week’s stay to individuals who are homeless in Geauga County. Since Memorial Day of this year, they have provided over 250 nights of shelter to men, women and families. They were able to assist disabled veterans along with their therapy animals. The gratitude from those served has been a great source of inspiration to serve with even more zeal.

Without the continued support of our community, they will not be able to provide this much needed service. GFRM is confident that God will continue to move the hearts of our community so that they may keep this program in place.

The community will be updated on how they are serving, with requests for current needs and how the community can join in being a hand up, not a hand out, in the lives of those who walk through the Mission’s doors.

Items currently needed are paper products, pop top can foods, peanut butter and jelly, microwaveable food, and travel size hygiene items.

Most importantly, everyone must work together to keep this Mission growing until all needs for homeless individuals are met, serving each other guided by Christ’s great commandment which is to “love your neighbor as yourself.”

On Saturday, Feb. 29 from 1 to 2 p.m., a Volunteer Fair will be held at Chardon Christian Fellowship Church, 401 S. Hambden St. in Chardon to inform those who would like to get involved. Come to find out how you can make a difference in someone’s life. Light refreshments will be served.

Please support and attend the monthly GFRM fundraisers at the Parkman Congregational Church on the third Friday at 5:30 p.m. and other fundraisers throughout the year. Donations can be made through PayPal on the GFRM website.

The Mission encourages everyone who feels he or she wants to support this project to contact them by phone at 440-313-8981 or email at info@gfrmission.org.
