The members of the Experimental Aviation Association Chapter 5 are proud to announce enrollment for the second annual week-long day camp for middle school students (going into grades 6 through 10) who are interested in flying. The EAA Chapter 5 Summer Youth Aviation Camp will take place June 15 -19 for new campers at the Geauga County Airport in Hangar 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is designed for kids with a real interest in aviation.
Students will actively participate in learning about aerodynamics, parts of a plane, the engine, flight operations, careers in aviation; will develop skills in map reading, riveting, woodworking and building; will be given opportunities to “fly” on flight simulators, take tours of real airplanes and helicopters at the airport; and be given an opportunity to take a ride in an airplane (parental permission given and weather permitting). There will be daily activities such as glider flying contests, scientific experimentation, and fun recreational activities.
There is a Registration fee of $150, although scholarships are available. A T-shirt, hat and supplies are included; participants should bring their own lunch, but snacks will be provided. Space is limited to 18 students to allow for more hands-on opportunities. Registration forms and the $150 fee are due by Friday, May 8. Corporate Sponsorship positions are also available.
