The Geauga Lyric Theater has suspended all operations due to the COVID-19 health crisis and is closed until further notice. Spring classes have also been cancelled.
It is with profound regret that the remaining four members of the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild’s Board of Trustees have submitted their resignations under the bylaws of the organization. The Board has labored to save the organization over the last four months since learning the full scope of the issues and debt burden that was uncovered in January. But in the end, our efforts could not overcome those challenges as well as recent circumstances. The cancellation of the remainder of our 2020 season and our educational programs due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the State of Ohio’s mass gathering ban has left the Board without options.
It is our sincere hope that the arts and live theater will flourish again in Geauga County, in better times and under better circumstances. When that day arrives, those efforts will need the generous support that so many have shown the Geauga Lyric Theatre Guild during its existence. We look forward to that day.
The Geauga Lyric Theater Guild would like to thank our generous sponsors for supporting the future of community arts and live theater.
