Geauga County, May 1, 2020. The generosity of our Geauga business community is incomparable! Leaders of local companies have heard the cry for help in this community in light of COVID-19 and have stepped up with generous support.
Recently, Jay Burnett, president of Mercury Plastics in Middlefield, earmarked several thousand dollars to be distributed by the Burton Middlefield Rotary (BMR) through the Maple Splash Raffle (MSR) fundraiser. Masco, parent company for Mercury Plastics in Middlefield asked that the funds be donated to supply PPE for caregivers at Ohman Family Living at Briar in Middlefield, the Geauga Department on Aging, the Geauga Veteran’s Food Pantry, the Geauga Faith Rescue Mission (for the homeless) and the Burton Congregational Church Food Bank. In all, Mercury Plastics will be donating more than $17,000 as a sponsor of the BMR Maple Splash Raffle fundraiser.
In 2019, Pat Preston of Preston Superstore in Burton, along with the Chevy Network, boosted the MSR prize list with the donation of a new 2019 Chevy Equinox. Also sponsoring the MSR are Middlefield Banking Co., Just For Fun Honda in Middlefield, Beaches and Dreams in Burton, Steven DiFranco Jewelers in Willoughby, RadioActive Electronics in Middlefield, and First Quality Power Place in Middlefield, and many others, all offering a fantastic line up of prizes. There is also opportunity for twenty-five instant winners of $100.
“The Maple Splash Raffle is now in its second year,” said Mark Zakrzewski, Burton Middlefield Rotary president. “It is the sole purpose of the BMR to support our community financially and through service projects. We are extremely grateful to all of these organizations for sponsoring this Raffle so that we can, in turn, help others in our community. Some other examples include scholarships for deserving high school students, Claridon Cares lunch program for disadvantaged children, and many other deserving volunteer programs.”
