Mobile Services at Geauga County Public Library is working hard to provide books to the communities we serve. Hopefully, you are familiar with the new temporary schedule at our libraries. Middlefield Branch is open from 9 am to 5 pm on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday and 1 to 9 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Patrons can contact the library and we will leave your available holds in the vestibule to provide a safe distance for patrons to get materials. Any patrons can choose to come to the library to get their books faster – including Bookmobile patrons!
If you would like to place a hold, please call the Mobile Services office at 440-632-9496. You can leave a hold with anyone who answers the phone. If the library is closed, simply dial 2582 to leave a message for me, the manager of Mobile Services. Thank you to all of our patrons who have already called and left messages for holds. Your holds have been placed and you will be called by a staff member when your holds are available.
As I mentioned last month, service on the bookmobile will be a little different for a while. For starters, we won’t be driving our big bookmobile out to the stops. Instead, we will use two vehicles, one for book returns and one for hold pickups. This is to comply with six-feet social distancing requirements. The downside is that we won’t be able to bring books out for browsing. Still, we will do everything we can to provide the books and magazines you want.
Our staff will only deliver available holds to the patrons. That’s why it’s so important to call us with your holds! If you don’t have specific books you would like but would like something like picture books or chapter books for your children, let us know and we will pull those from our shelves for you.
The bookmobile schedule will change for a while as well. We may not be able to visit every stop since we will only be on the road for three days per week. Our staff is reaching out to our patrons who normally host the bookmobile to share the updated schedule.
We appreciate your patience and help as we try to work out this new system. No one is more excited to get back on the road than us, and we can only do that if we all stay safe and respect the new rules. We will see you soon!
