It was a winner! The Middlefield VFW Post 9678 Car Show had a great turn out with 55 entries at the event on June 20 at the Post. Some entrants were turned away because all the spots had been quickly filled.
Owners of the vehicles had an opportunity to show off their classic cars or trucks. There were so many vintage and restored vehicles on display that it was a challenge to make a decision on the fan favorites. Visitors enjoyed getting out into the sunshine and listening to class rock music. First place winner was a 2002 Chevy Camaro owned by Chuck Wicks and second place winner was a 1949 GMC Pick Up truck owned by Sherry Palugy.
VFW Post 9678 is planning to do a car show on Father’s Day weekend next year. Put June 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. on your calendar now so you will not miss it.
Upcoming during the month of July, a flag retirement ceremony will be held and combined with another event which may have to be limited because of the social distance requirements. Watch their sign at 16013 East High Street for details or call 440-632-1257 for updates.
Please remember to buy your Geauga Veterans Sports Fest tickets at the Middlefield VFW on Mondays through Fridays between 3 and 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from noon until 8 p.m. This is the second annual event featuring a 50 item raffle with cash prizes, firearms, fishing equipment, outdoor gear and more. Tickets are $20 each and winners need not be present.
